Just curious. Did you ask HSBC in Hong Kong ? Or HSBC somewhere else?

Is there any update to this? Were you able to find out if HSBC in Hong Kong can open a new account using Skype?

I'm considering to open a new account, but I'm a little nervous about visiting there... (what if I forget some paperwork?)

Thanks.

I spent the month before Chinese New Year researching this.

Yes it is possible and yes some OSPs provide this *but* there are many caveats (such as your location etc). If you approach your bank direct, they will be clueless.

There are OSPs who claim to be able to open an account purely on the basis of their relationship with the bank and without a skype interview too.

I am at the decision stage and now that the OSPs are back from New Year, I will activate this week.

Thanks for the update!

Please be sure and come back to let us know what is the decision you made. I am very curious what is the OSP you select, and if it works for them to create a Hong Kong bank account for you without having to visit Hong Kong.

🙂

Yes, would be good to chat given our similarities of circumstance.

I can't PM on the forum but perhaps, if it's okay with forum rules, we could exchange temporary email addresses?
