How hard would it be to relocate to Australia for someone in Europe?

I have often considered Australia as a destination for my second period of life.

How hard is it to relocate there if you live in an EU country for instant Scandinavian country?

What would be minimum requirements to succeed?

The question is too vague and it needs additional factors: what do you define by the word success? Are you talking about getting residence permit or integration in the local society? Or perhaps you mean getting a job?

The answers will depend on what you expect yourself to struggle with, what level of formal education do you have, how much $$$ etc

Countries like Australia have many options for immigration as investor, skilled specialist and others. Each person picks the most suitable for them given their current situation

I have a job, no need for that. Own several companies worldwide. Doing 1 million USD a year in profits after tax is paid.

So my question is, can I just take a flight there, stay for 3 months and in this 3 months apply for permission to stay there for another 5 years or so? What shall I do to get started if I don't want to leave the country after 3 months and live as a tourist?

I have a South African friend (an accountant) who moved to Australia (no money, employee) and he always says that with money (not being a potential liability for the government) it's way easier and faster - ask an Aussie immigration lawyer and you'll know...

while Australia might be beautiful and good place to live in many ways I'd definitely think twice whether it's a good idea to move to a country with freedom that low (the only worse countries I could think of would be Canada or France)

Depends on what it is you are looking for. If taxes has a lower priority you may be satisfied with Australia!

Australia is like Canada but better.

Better weather
Better Housing
Better Food
Better people

If i had to choose between Australia, Norway and Canada, I'd always choose Australia.

The problem is, Taxes. And the fact that it's very isolated (a blessing and a problem)

If you have plenty of money and you don't mind paying taxes, Australia can be a great place to live.

Look into investor and business visas. Better yet, talk to a reputable immigration lawyer.

OP, have you looked into New Zealand as well? Taxes are lower and there is no exit tax, and I'm assuming that lifestyles are similar.

You can get the Entrepeneur Work Visa if you meet certain requirements (health, etc.) set up a business and invest $60,000 USD in it.
