EU VAT number for UK limited how easy?

I´ve tried to get a VAT number for an Ireland business, and they didnt accept a virtual address.

How easy/hard is it to get a VAT number in the UK? Can one just incorporate a limited and then apply for VAT number?

The UK vat number will soon not be a EU vat number.

It might depend on the agent you use, or how virtual that address is. Normally shouldn't not be too difficult to get a vat number, especially if you have taxable sales already.

How did they refuse you in Ireland? Did they say you can continue to sell without charging vat?

In the UK you require a Social Security number to obtain a VAT number easily.
Without it you will find it difficult as there is a lot more paperwork involved.
You can buy a company with a VAT number but they are expensive.
