Can you still buy a car for cash in Germany?

Last time I did that was around 2020. It was quick and convenient.
I will probably never buy again a car in Europe, but I’m curious to know how the EUSSR is doing.
I recently read from a dealer: “Due to the new money laundering guidelines, we can only accept cash for the entire vehicle payment up to a maximum of 9,900 EUR.” 🙁

As far as I know, the cash payment limit is only supposed to take effect from 2027. In 2026, it should still be possible, though an ID card or passport is required. That’s also what the ADAC says.
