Can you open a bank account without letter of recommendation?

To open a bank account in Cyprus, banks ask for a letter of recommendation.

I tried once to get a letter of recommendation from my personal bank. They told me it was nominative. They want to know who was the recipient before writing a letter of recommendation. They even told me that I had to give them the address of the organization and the point of contact. In other words, they wanted to know EVERYTHING.

I said stop i changed my mind because I didn't want my personal bank representative to know that I wanted to open a bank account in Cyprus. This was a breach of my privacy.
So, can you open a bank account in Cyprus without letter of recommendation in 2019?

Depends on the introducer of your choice. I had no issues to open an account in Cyprus without such a letter.
