I'd like to lose my Excel files and put all the info into one program: details about clients and wholesalers, descriptions of contracts (prices, workhours spent, costs etc).

You may be interested to look into Joomla Payments Component, Joomla Invoicing Module, Joomla Billing they have some great software for this, alternatives are a non web based software which can be run on the local mashine, will find a few links for you.
