Curious if people would keep 500K USD in the bank or as USDC/USDT?

Yes, at the very least it would be spread across multiple banks, although a) since most banks outside the US only have max 100K insurance, it requires 5 accounts b) who knows if they would even respect the insured limits for broader systemic crises.

Non-EMI Personal Bank Account for Mainland Europe

Dukascopy (although it has a name that sounds like a medical procedure) has a Swiss banking license, can be opened online, has multicurrency accounts with IBAN numbers and a physicial and virtual debit card. I opened it with a non-EU address.

OK - I'll try to get an IBKR account sooner and see if I can buy t-bills. I don't have a US acct, only WIse and a multicurrency acct without an assd brokerage acct. Last edited: Apr 10, 2025

Curious if people would keep 500K USD in the bank or as USDC/USDT?

Let's say you needed to park the money for a couple months while you close down a business, change residency, and get some necessary paperwork to open up an IBKR account. In these volatile times where hedge funds need 2 trillion dollar bailouts, are you keeping your USD in stablecoin form or...

I did, but when I told him I sold some gold to buy BTC, he hung up on me ;)

Peter Schiff - think what you want about his bank and his views on BTC - is a master analyst of economics. This is a great analysis of the present situation and its historical context:

How immune are the Channel Islands to all the dystopian events happening in the UK?

OK - what about in relative terms compared to the rest of Europe? 'Boring but stable' might be alright May-Oct seem livable even with the wind. Grocery store prices aren't bad so could cook more, eat out less. Enough shops, pubs and little cafes in St Helier to keep it interesting. The...

How immune are the Channel Islands to all the dystopian events happening in the UK?

Censorship, illegals, removing tax benefits, traitorous leaders, overall self-destruction for the native popn... Or will it continue to be a haven that is spared from the ravages of authoritarianism since, after all, money is the most important thing to the powers that be. There are only 2 ways...

Skype closing down - US LLC - Need US number for banks - Ideas on providers?

Thanks for this Johnny - this worked very well! I took your suggestion to get a phone with eSIM and it's opened a world of possibilities where you don't have to carry around 10 old SIM cards I'll just write a few lines bc I am in the category of people with a US number who do not have a US...

Countries that do not charge WHT to non-residents on interest earned in savings accounts

Other than non-dom and remittance-based tax regimes, can you list a few examples? Only listing the US exemption was bc of the ChatGPT result. That pwc 'Corp WHT by country' table is great. I didn't realize that a treaty could bring the rate down to 0%. According to the table, there are many...

Countries that do not charge WHT to non-residents on interest earned in savings accounts

In terms of the usual places people like to get accounts: Switzerland would charge you a default 35% WHT (could be reduced with a treaty, or 0% if US-resident), whereas Liechtenstein is 0% For SIngapore, it has to be an approved bank - couldn't find out if any of the major banks were not...

Countries that do not charge WHT to non-residents on interest earned in savings accounts

Yes, it will only be completely tax-free if you have your fiscal residence in a territorial country (which i will be arrranging this year for myself) or a tax haven The point of the exercise was to see where you could diversify with bank accounts and not have that country withhold tax on the...

Countries that do not charge WHT to non-residents on interest earned in savings accounts

The purpose of this little research project was to find countries where you could park some money as a non-resident and not have to worry about paying withholding tax. You still might have to pay tax on the foriegn income if you live in residence-based tax country or the US. I also wanted to...

Armenia remote citizenship in 3 years?

It's a good non-correlated passport. One of the few ones that gives you 90 days for both China and Russia. Surely there must be someone who wrote the exam and posted the q's online somewhere.

Would you deposit 200K USD in a Panama bank to get temp res and then use that bank for cashing out crypto?

Are you talking about 150 countries where you can get a bank acct as a non-resident and cash out, or where you can get residency with a simple bank deposit and no phys pres req's?
