Total return by asset for last 200 years

My point is, buy&hold investing can be a great strategy for a young person, but it's not easy to follow. If you bought the S&P500 at the end of 1999, you've had to wait until approximately 2014 to break even. How many people have the stomach to wait for 14 years? Not easy sticking to it. I...

Total return by asset for last 200 years

If you bought the S&P500 in 1929, you've had to wait until 1985 to break even, 56 years! So be mindful of that given the insanity of the markets these days.

The Nikkei picked in 1989, it took more than 30 years to recover.

Total return by asset for last 200 years

Over the long term, research shows that REITs have outperformed stocks. Since 1994, three REIT subgroups stood out for their ability to beat the S&P 500 Self-storage REITs have delivered a 17.3% average annual total return since 1994. That has obliterated the S&P 500's 10.1% average annual total...

Euro Pacific bank is a scam

But you agreed to that under the promise that customers would get the money back within 3 months, or something like that. And also based on what you new back them, there's been a few developments since. I just think it would be easier, meaning having a better chance against both, the...

Euro Pacific bank is a scam

I understand the involvement of the IRS, but ultimately the Commissioner made the decision herself to close the bank. She could have easily said to the IRS representative that there was no legal basis to close the bank. She could have said to the IRS agent "I can't close the bank because I told...

Euro Pacific bank is a scam

Yes, I can see the possibility of lawsuit against OCIF based on that information. I don't know if anyone has ever filed a successful lawsuit against OCIF in the past, but at this point you have literally nothing to lose.

Euro Pacific bank is a scam

I doubt the Receiver will do anything that could hurt the OCIF. What has changed during these two years that you now have the evidence to prove that the whole thing was illegal? You already know what the Commissioner will say if the case goes to trial. She will say that "the bank was...

Euro Pacific bank is a scam

Why didn't you file the lawsuit to try to save your bank?

Euro Pacific bank is a scam

Not a good idea to take legal action against OCIF or the Receiver, you don't have a chance, and then you'll never see the money.

These are the different ways that you can buy US ETFs. 1) Open a brokerage account with a non-European address. 2) Open a brokerage account with a non-European company. 3) Get an exemption (treated as "elective professional client"). 4) Buy US-ETFs indirectly through options. 5) Hire a...

Euro Pacific bank is a scam

That's what it seemed, a bluff for the most part. UK tax accountants were trying to convince everybody to come forward or risk going to jail (no one has gone to jail as of today).

What advice you give to your younger self ? (Mistake that still regret )

Most marriages fail after 20-30 years of being together. Here I am, 25 years with the same lady and never been married. Both of us are free to go at any time, that's what's keeping us together, at least for now....

    Spain double taxation

That's a good question... Panama signed up to the CRS back in 2017, and they started reporting in September of 2018, but I'm not sure if Neobanks in Panama have to report. I would ask the Neobank in question and see what they say.

    Spain double taxation

As long as Hacienda doesn't find out about the money you make outside of Spain you're good, so do not transfer funds into Spain from any foreign bank, and do not use a debit card from a foreign bank while you're a tax resident in Spain.

Thailand Capital Gains Tax on "Foreign Sourced Gains"

I had forgotten about the LTR Visa, arguably the best visa to get at the moment. Not sure what the requirements will be after the 10 years are over.

Thailand Capital Gains Tax on "Foreign Sourced Gains"

All those are good ideas...., but flying with $20K in cash is risky. In the western world the most that you're allowed to carry in cash is 10K, more than that, by law, has to be declared. I guess you can ask your lovely lady to carry another 10K, and I'm not sure you want to ask a child to carry...
