Best location for intellectual property and ownership interest protection

I agree, you should speak to lawyers in the jurisdictions where the assets are located. I would be careful about speaking to offshore providers (unless they have strong onshore partner law firms), because they obviously have an interest in selling you something. Not all offshore structures are...

UAE Small Business Relief (SBR) - experiences?

If I remember correctly, qualifying freezone entities are tax free. They are named like that because they qualify for a tax exemption. So it makes sense that they can't apply for the SBR.

    IBKR with Thai updated address

Guess why the ETFs are domiciled in Ireland... Ireland doesn't have WHT, it doesn't matter where you live. And btw, the funds pay 15% US WHT. And if you have cash deposits held by US banks/brokers (such as IBKR), then you will be paying US estate tax.

So no residence permits for nomads in Thailand?

Some people here have been skeptical about giving a Thai address to banks because of concerns about CRS and safety.

So no residence permits for nomads in Thailand?

Can't you just go to the Russian embassy in Thailand, show them your DTV visa and ask them to update the address in your passport? If you have a passport that shows a Thai address, that should probably count as a residency permit...?

UAE VAT Registration: 0% vs out of scope

I think you can apply for the exemption if all your sales are to customers outside the UAE (so no UAE VAT is due ever). If you don't get the exemption, then you have to register and submit VAT returns, even if they are 0. But I have never dealt with this myself, this is just to the best of my...

So no residence permits for nomads in Thailand?

If you're employed, you can eventually get a permanent residency and eventually even citizenship, I think. But that's many years down the road and you have to learn Thai.

So no residence permits for nomads in Thailand?

You can probably forget about the EOR route. The provider takes a cut and then you need a minimum salary of $2k or so, on which you will also be paying 10-15% tax, or something like that. Maybe try Malaysia? I know many Pakistanis move there, they probably don't have a lot of money.

UAE FZCO - IFZS update employment contract

I'm not a representative for them. Welcome to Dubai. I wouldn't recommend doing business there, you're being nickeled and dimed for everything there. Which was fine when there was no tax, but for 9% tax, it's a joke.

RAK ICC withholding tax on US investments

I think what OP is trying to do is find a cheap way to avoid the US estate tax while investing into US stocks. I guess RAK companies are cheap to set up and don't require and audit? So I could see how that would make sense (if you don't know how terrible it is to deal with UAE service providers...

Bankera suspended account under review for 2 months

No, they don't all do shady things, but: 1. EMIs are often less strict doing onboarding (so they can show growth to their investors), but then they are stricter as you start using the account. Traditional banks may be stricter during onboarding, but then less strict when you use the account...

RAK ICC withholding tax on US investments

Of course you can pay 21% with a transparent entity? Just set up an office in the US and hire staff? Then you will be paying BPT - it's the same rate as the WHT.

Bankera suspended account under review for 2 months

You should open a separate thread for this, instead of taking over this thread. Besides, if you have a clean business, you should be happy they do proper KYC checks. If they don't, other customers will be criminals, which can lead to problems for you. For example, what if the bank gets a huge...

RAK ICC withholding tax on US investments

Tomato tomato... it's the same thing. If the US LLC is taxed as a corporation, it is called WHT. If the US LLC is transparent and has ECI, it's called BPT. WHT always applies, BPT only applies if the US LLC is owned by a company (and there is ECI).

Plus 30% branch profit tax. Great.

Cyprus or UAE for me? (Low income btw...)

It's very good. Of course 5 vs. 13% is a big difference when you make 10M a year (to give an extreme example), it's a difference of 800k, so then you can spend 100k for a setup that will still save you 700k, if that should be necessary. But as long as you're not there, I think 13% all in is very...

UAE FZCO - IFZS update employment contract
