    Recommendation Malta or Cyprus?

You do of course have to keep in mind that at some point in the future you will have to pay 30% at least for that short period of time but until then you can do whatever you want with that money. Absolutely make sure you can pay those 30% on time after the approx 2 years though! There is some...

How do they verify tax residency?

This is very different from country to country. Usually this will be rental contracts, utility bills, grocery bills, flight tickets, tax certificate / id, residency permit to proof the 183+ days or whatever your countries rules are (both sides your dom country and your non-dom country). Non-dom...

    Recommendation Malta or Cyprus?

But you are not paying the taxes before your can request the refund. The 30% are not gone for 2 years or so. You file the refund the day you pay the taxes. The 2 years+ leading up to the actual payment of the tax you can make that money work for you actually.

Where to open an offshore company for consulting/programming consultancy

Do not open banking in Malta (fellow German with an IT holding here) but simply use continental european banking. Transferwise, Revolut etc all got business accounts, bunq got fully insured private ones. Stash cash away in treasuries, ETFs whatever over direct buying or broker like IB etc. And...

    Recommendation Malta or Cyprus?

@devnull can you give a hint (first or last part of the name) of the lawyer / agency? This isnt really very complicated. Make sure to have it one of the known lawyer / accountants looking it over. If you dont have the proper holding structure (which again is easy) you will not get your refunds...

    Digital nomad tax

Exactly this. Dont get fooled by all the nomad bs talk, simply move around now and then, enjoy sun blah blah. Not how easy it will work out in real life. You want a (tax) residency, proper tax certificates etc.

Where to open an offshore company for consulting/programming consultancy

Think you misunderstood me - non taxed as in not corporate taxed in Cyprus! NOT at all positive as you are going to be taxed in your home country. Shitty deal here is depending on where your tax residency country is you are going to be taxed in different ways and not necessarily on the real...

Where to open an offshore company for consulting/programming consultancy

Non-resident = non taxed & non DTA. You will almost surely be taxed in your home country and usually in a very shitty way. PS: Yes if you register resident you pay the 12.5 but will have an issue with your local tax agency.

I'm self-employed in the UK currently in the 40% income tax bracket. What would you do?

No prejudice, as an eastern German i have been to Bulgaria more times than i would like to admit. But yes as said it does have its nice places (wonderful actually!) and of course like you said, the island life might not be for all. It still is the "eastern block" no matter how you want to spin...

US citizens who dont live in the US anymore and they dont pay US taxes?

That might be a gag for license plates but not recommended in communication with the IRS... Check sites about Portugal Golden Visa etc there is some information there about general possibilities and law about US citizens that don't live in the US anymore.

I'm self-employed in the UK currently in the 40% income tax bracket. What would you do?

Thats 5% more for living somewhere that is not even remotely comparable to Cyprus or Malta (2.5% less though in case of Cyprus). For low profits that will level out or be cheaper but everything else? Not to say it doesnt have a few nice spots but still... you cannot compare at all. Also...

Where to open an offshore company for consulting/programming consultancy

PS: Germany does not apply DBAs in (a lot of) these cases and as outlined in the article will indeed "approximate" the profits of the foreign corporation for your German income tax.

Where to open an offshore company for consulting/programming consultancy

My answer was kind of split as in first part being that his German clients will have a big issue with trying to deduct his BVI, VAE etc invoices and most will simply flat out decline or will in the future after they showed those invoices to a German tax inspector. This becomes particularly...

Where to open an offshore company for consulting/programming consultancy

They will as Finanzamt will not accept certain kinds of invoices, invoices from certain countries (especially all blacklisted ones) etc as deductible / VAT excluded etc just like that. The companies will care as the Finanzamt will -make- them care :) Also CFC rules will kick in here big time...

    SataBank Closed

My concerns and that of people like Martin Everson who know the local way how things work might not have been too unwarranted... A month in, no money in sight and narrative slowly making a U turn. I do hope everyone is getting their money out. The good thing is that there is enough publicity...

I'm self-employed in the UK currently in the 40% income tax bracket. What would you do?

Exactly and these "foreign managed" checks are a lot different in how they are done from country to country e.g. try that from Germany... the tax inspector will have a field day with you, same goes for Portugal. It is not just about having a director etc. You are receiving those dividends, you...

Having a car or property on the name of your offshore company in your local jurisdiction?

If it flies, floats, or fu***... rent it.... best advice ever and that is from someone that was a Porsche fleet customer at 21... payed cash. It is not worth it especially in the current printing climate and flat renting offers... Plenty of 3rd party (non sixt, europcar etc) rentals...

I'm self-employed in the UK currently in the 40% income tax bracket. What would you do?

Meaning Portugal will not accept the Irish or UK or whatever company as truly foreign, non-active managed company and its dividends to the PT NHR as passive foreign income which would be tax free in PT for the NHR resident. Basing this on legally without loosing sleep holding the final money...

I'm self-employed in the UK currently in the 40% income tax bracket. What would you do?

I might have mixed things up here who is trying to do what but if he is going to be (tax) resident in Portugal all the UK law is kind of a second class citizen with Portugals strict laws as in what constitutes foreign sourced income, a foreign company etc. I had two consultations in Portugal a...
