Dubai seeking to regulate Crypto Tokens

Let's see what the actual details are. The wording in the law might refer to all individuals”¦ don't know how I'd feel about that.

Sheikh Mohammed announces first-of-its-kind law for virtual assets (NFTs and crypto)

If it's just for service providers then it is good news imho. If not, then it sucks yes. It's basically what the EU proposed a few months back and then backtracked... having a database linking people with their private wallets/addresses... insane.

Dubai seeking to regulate Crypto Tokens

Yup, that's what all the official docs I could find say. Idk how some media agencies reported otherwise. News is very positive if so, imho.

Sheikh Mohammed announces first-of-its-kind law for virtual assets (NFTs and crypto)

Yes, but I haven't been able to find any official docs or statements that say that. All the docs I've seen refer to service providers. My question is, where did they get this information from? It would indeed suck if the above is true, depends on the details though.

Sheikh Mohammed announces first-of-its-kind law for virtual assets (NFTs and crypto)

Some news agencies (Dubai establishes virtual asset regulator and announces new crypto law) reporting that residents will have to register with the authority (VARA) before they take part in crypto activities. Don't know if that applies to people just trading their own funds on an exchange. As...

Crypto (DeFi) taxes - better as private person or Cyprus Ltd

I get you, but it still amazes me that we keep hearing that certain jurisdictions want to make their countries more attractive and that they're holding consultations with the practitioners in the space and service providers... do issues like the above not come up? Or is there just nothing they...

Crypto (DeFi) taxes - better as private person or Cyprus Ltd

I know this isn't Cyprus specific, but my hesitance with places like Cyprus is... If one makes profit trading crypto, and ends up with X stablecoin at the end of the year, but he cannot withdraw this money (or the % owned in tax) to an actual bank account. What happens? You're just royally...

UAE FATF GRAY LISTING - How we deal with it

Nothing wrong, I'm just saying that they have the tools to make the sharing of information better if they want to. Just because you're reported doesn't mean you're automatically a tax resident of the country you're reported to.

UAE FATF GRAY LISTING - How we deal with it

Not maybe, they knew. Same thing happened in Malta. Judging by what happened in other countries the main focus is usually on reporting suspicious transactions (practically non-existent during property purchases) and taking people to court (real action); and making it easy for other countries to...

UAE to introduce 9% corporate tax on business profits from June 1, 2023 (FZCO REMAINS 0%)

That would indeed suck. Although it would be very surprising considering the very clear distinction between personal and business affairs in the UAE. We have to wait and see what the law actually says.
