German taxes based on nationality like USA

Imagine all countries do this. What if someone with a U.S. Green Card is suddenly subject to global taxation in 2 countries. Next, imagine that person now works in a totally different country and is required to submit 3 tax returns. It's getting intractable really quickly. There's a simple...

New FATF cryptocurrency regulate guidance is totally disaster!

Isn't that exactly why we have stablecoins?

I currently have €30k in Kraken and €30k in Binance, how secure is that?

There's simply no excuse for not using a hardware wallet. Funds on exchanges are a ticking time bomb. Invest a weekend if that's what's needed. The software bundled with the hardware wallets is super user friendly these days, so it will probably be much less.

    BISQ/Experiences

Bisq is definitely not the right solution here. It's a peer-2-peer exchange that supports a variety of payment methods (standard stuff like SEPA and PayPal, but also more funky things like "cash via mail" and Amazon Gift cards). And as previously mentioned there's not much liquidity on there...

    Do cryptocurrency exchanges implement CRS/FATCA?

Not sure what you're trying to hide (if anything), but I think a lot of cryptocurrency activity is going to move off of centralized exchanges in the near future. Instead, we'll see people use decentralized crypto-to-crypto protocols/exchanges more frequently (UniSwap / ThorChain / etc.)...

    Do cryptocurrency exchanges implement CRS/FATCA?

Not sure about FATCA, but FinCEN said in December that they're planning to require FBAR reporting from US persons who store crypto on foreign exchanges. It's not official, yet. Obviously, FBAR is a different beast than FATCA/CRS, but it should be mentioned still. Randomly selected source...

    If Not coinbase where?

Why does it matter if video verification is required, or "just" an ID scan? I guess it only matters if someone is (A) planning to submit a fake ID (not legal, booo), or (B) if someone is trying to steal someone else's funds (again, not legal and even less cool). By the way, I read recently that...

article: The great American tax haven: why the super-rich love South Dakota

Oh, looks like something new to be learned here! Can someone please explain in plain English words when a South Dakota Trust would be beneficial? E.g., is this only useful for US persons? Is the main use case inheritance, or would it also make sense for someone who wants to spend the money...

CRS Reporting, confused if I am reportable via my bank and broker.

That's interesting. I thought the reporting back from the USA to other countries was part of the deal, but not properly implemented. I remember that some EU countries complained that they were sharing data with the USA, but not getting anything back in return. It seems that has changed since.

New FATF cryptocurrency regulate guidance is totally disaster!

Only idiots would keep using such a system. Custodial Bitcoin is not Bitcoin. It's like saying, "the merchant I bought potatoes from owns a Lamborghini, thus I bought a Lamborghini." If it ever gets to that, there would clearly be a parallel universe that is not regulated. I know which side I...

New FATF cryptocurrency regulate guidance is totally disaster!

Some countries already do that. It's called "Exit Tax" and "Citizenship Renunciation Fee".

€10,000 Dark Web Hitman Identifed Via Crypto-Analysis

Maybe. Maybe not. If you're a smart "hacker" and understand/control exactly which metadata your computer sends out, then maybe not. But even those people can get busted over time, because humans make mistakes eventually. It's not as easy as just installing Whonix.

€10,000 Dark Web Hitman Identifed Via Crypto-Analysis

In theory there could be a reputation system (think Amazon reviews), but in practice it would (hopefully) be difficult to get a meaningful number of reviews ... why would scammed buyers be so stupid and admit that they've tried to have someone killed? Just unnecessarily more evidence. A...

€10,000 Dark Web Hitman Identifed Via Crypto-Analysis

Have there ever been cases of successful dark web contract killings? My understanding is that it's all a hoax. Just scammers. Only buyers get caught because there are no real "sellers".

How to prove Bitcoin earn though Mining Operation ?

As others have pointed out, unless you deliberately mix your coins or mine a currency like Monero, everyone can easily see that your coins come from a recent block reward.

    Buying Bitcoin for a friend

International stuff gets messy quickly. You may want to ask a CPA so you're aware of gift limits and disclosure requirements. Also, if you receive and send a lot, they might think you run an unlicensed money transmission business. Danger.

What's your thoughts about DAI ?

I concur with tomgurl. DAI is the only mature and decentralized option. With DAI you may get into trouble if there's a total crypto market meltdown. (However, several other stakeholders get liquidated before you if you just hold the stablecoin.) With USDC/Tether/etc. you get into trouble if a...

If I applied for ITIN, will I need to pay taxes?

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf The form literally has just 1 page ... so if you're providing honest information, why pay $499 for someone else to do it?

List of Method to Spend Bitcoin without Trace

Happy to help, what exactly should be explained further? Maybe the below already helps. FYI, my posts only contain publicly available information that anyone can find on the open Internet, if interested. I'm just trying to help, by summarizing it for interested folks. It's a very fascinating...
