    Paraguay residence - my journey

Keep posting! I was thinking about this residency in the past, however I don't speak spanish and Asuncion is in the middle of nowhere, flights only from Madrid... so I decided to not go for it.

    Is Gibraltar a hidden champion?

I forgot to mention, UAE addresses in passport/id are written in p.o. box format so from any banks perspective is not even a valid residential address. So all they really care is what proof of residential address you give them (bank statement, utility bill...).

    Is Gibraltar a hidden champion?

Banks like n26, Revolut and EMI Wise won't aboard you if you're UAE resident. I'm not sure how they will react if they see your EU citizenship but with UAE address in passport/id but you give them address of your EU apartment (rented/owned) with EU proof of address (bank statement, utility...

    Is Gibraltar a hidden champion?

@Konstanz what do they use for proof of address in UAE - bank statements? Or do they own/rent home in UAE - utility bills? Actually they can live in some EU country in their apartment but don't register after 3 months...probably nobody would notice. Can they open bank account in EU if they have...

Simplest Setup to avoid US Estate tax on US Stocks

Non-US legal entity owns US situs assets. Some countries have agreements regarding this tax, so you better check if your country of citizenship/residency is among those.

Minimum "home" criteria for tax residency

Tax treaties have a "home available at all times" criteria written in them, what is the minimum criteria that you have home in that country and is considered legit for every taxman? - minimum size, how many m2 of space? - Owned? Rented? Does it have to be 12-month contract or less? -...

0% plan and coming back from tax haven after 10 years

Why do you need DTA if you're already tax non-resident in country of citizenship and tax resident in UAE? DTA is used if you're double tax resident and countries have to decide which one will tax you. In my first post it says: Socio-economic residential ties are cut in country of citizenship...

0% plan and coming back from tax haven after 10 years

That is why you cut ties with country of citizenship (no subscriptions, no tel. nr., no bank accounts, no investments, no business, no wife&kids, no car, no real estate, no cat, no dog, no permanent address, no health insurance, tax non-resident status) and become tourist. After that you don't...

0% plan and coming back from tax haven after 10 years

What is important - laws, facts and proofs or what taxman "feels" in that moment? Taxman can feel whatever he wants, but if you go by the rules, he is just wasting his time and taxpayers money.

0% plan and coming back from tax haven after 10 years

No problem with questions from taxman, the point is to plan everything ahead the right way and have documents, proofs. With no socio-economic ties (bank accounts, investments, business, wife&kids, real estate...), no permanent residence address, staying less than 183 days, not becoming tax...

Fortunately in my country of citizenship there is no such tax, one less thing to worry. Btw. @wellington how exactly do you invest & accumulate tax free and then pay dividend every few years? Do you have some sort of accumulating investment fund? Last edited: Jan 29, 2024
