Hello,

I just hung up the phone with my bank in Germany! I have an account with them since 2004 I asked if they are going to report the account to my local tax authorities not Germany.

They said NO we are not going to report anything!! Now I think, what is all this with the "new OECD" reporting? is true or not?

You want to ask them if they know about AEOI or if they have slept under a rock for the last few years!

You may ask the bank specific for the AEOI and not just if they will send your information somewhere.

Do you think the banker is wrong or the OECD is wrong and spreading propaganda?

Did you ask them again if they are 100% sure about that? For me it looks like the guy you spoke with didn't know about these regulations !!

Germany implementing CRS this year. It is on the OECD website on its list of jurisdictions. Any real licensed bank in Germany would not only know about this, but would be complying. I would suggest talking with another person at the bank.

Second that it sounds strange and you will need to speak with another person.
