Lets say you'd have an US LLC in Colorado. Could you travel in the US and open a bank account with a real bank (not EMI) in any state? Like Florida, New york, Texas etc. or does it need to be in Colorado?

Principally in any state. But it is subject to the bank to accept you and your LLC or not. I would recommending asking before, especially if there is no conection to the US and no SSN/ITIN.

Some banks require it to be registered in the same branch, and some banks require it to be registered in a state where they have branches.

Thread 'I tried opening a US business account in 18 EMIs, here's the result'

Mar 9, 2024
I have a US LLC, am non-resident in the US, and signed up to 18 different EMIs.

This is the result after a week:
  1. 3S Money - Asked for $20 to process my application + it charges $100 a month for having the account open
  2. Airwallex - Approved
  3. Brex - Rejected because I have no venture capital (startup focused apparently)
  4. Currenxie - Doesn't offer services to US businesses
  5. Juni.co - Doesn't offer services to US businesses
  6. Mercury - Application still pending
  7. Novel - Application still pending
  8. Payoneer - Wants the withdrawal account to be in the LLCs name (no point...

Thread 'Mercury requires US Operations'

May 4, 2024
I have had for a few years an account with Mercury for my foreign-owned US LLC. Mercury is now asking for a physical address. They accept foreign addresses, so fine.

BUT, they also require US Operations! They ask:

Code:
Code:
Do you currently have U.S. operations?
1. Yes
2. No, but I plan in the next 6 months
3. No, I don't plan to

If you select the last option, they say:
Code:
Code:
We now require all companies to have some form of US operations.
If you proceed, your account access will be temporarily restricted
and you'll have 60 days to establish US operations
before the account is closed for...

Thread 'Are There Any Real Alternatives to Mercury Bank for Non-Resident US LLCs?'

Oct 24, 2024
Hello,

I've come across many posts mentioning alternatives to Mercury for US LLCs managed from abroad (non-resident LLCs). However, after trying several options, I've found that most don't work or are not updated.

Here's what I've experienced so far:
  • Relay Bank no longer accepts companies without a physical US address. The workaround of using a non-resident US address no longer works.
  • AirWallex, Brex, Levro and Novel were also not viable options.
The only bank I've successfully opened an account with is Wise, but its features are...

okay yes, searching the forum I can do at may own, question may have been wrong.

Are there any new alternatives tested and with experience from users around here to Mercury ?
