The audacity of Revolut to comply with the law and regulations under which they are licensed. You sure showed them.

All fine 🙂
Unfortunately, be assured that this list will become empty (of trustworthy EMIs) sooner or later. As of EU EMIs, my bet is 2026-01-01 as the latest, probably sooner.
what did they ask specifically?janet25 said:
Revolut is closing my account because I refuse to provide an explanation of where funds that enter the account come from. This is odd, because I barely use it and my balance has been 0 for a while. Anyway, that's another neobank app deleted from my phone.

BTW, I am anything but a member of a Revolut fanclub; nevertheless this request was completely legit and expectable.

If you mean the date for the very strict AML/CTF procedures and consequent asking for piles of papers then this date is just my personal estimation.
As of CRS reporting, this is enacted by the Council Directive (EU) 2023/2226 of 17 October 2023 amending Directive 2011/16/EU, relevant for all EU-operating EMIs. Directive - EU - 2023/2226 - EN - EUR-Lex (beware, 38 pages of a legal text, to a remarkable extent usable only together with Directive 2011/16, also available at EUR-Lex ”” Access to European Union law ”” choose your language). Enclosed for your convenience 😉janet25 said:
I've seen you mention it in other threads, too. That all EMIs will be reporting to the CRS after 2025.

You did the RIGHT THING! 😉janet25 said:
They chose to become a bank and I choose not to use it. Plenty of EMIs around that don't ask you anything.

Are you in Europe, North America, Asia, or ?????Vangor said:
I recently got similar case (tho with OKX crypto exchange platform not EMI)
They asked for extra level verification (cause normal source of fund a gave them already)
And in this I had to provide 2 docs
1. Source of funds - Savings
2. Industry
Problem is, whatever you choose on 2, you need to give them docs that is 3 months old a max.
Which is very weird, if source of funds Savings.
Even if I choose industry - Unemployed, they require some official document about it.
Support was totally useless and replied worse than GPT 3

OKX EU, where I'm it's separate topic 🙂
Of course it's the EU. The place where they put constraints on everything except the borders.
