Thailand's soon to launch Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)

Thailand is set to introduce the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), a 5-year multiple-entry visa that allows stays of up to 180 days per entry. This visa can be extended once for an additional 180 days, enabling a maximum continuous stay of 360 days. After this period, visa holders must leave Thailand for at least one day to reset their stay period.

The DTV, priced at 10,000 THB, can be applied for at Thai embassies, consulates, or online. It is designed for remote workers, freelancers, digital nomads, activity participants, and their families. Applicants need to show proof of 500,000 THB in funds and submit standard documentation. Importantly, DTV holders are exempt from Thai taxes and must apply from outside Thailand.

PS. Someone attended the event organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), so while this information is not yet official, it is highly reliable.

Only if they stay less than 180 days/year in Thailand (being non tax resident in TH) or they stay more and do not remit income in Thailand (From the doc).

You only pay on what you remit if you have earned it after 2024. Meaning all earnings before 2024 are tax free.

Interesting info (from the doc). Might just use the 60+30 days for now then, until I really want to stay much longer.

• The DTV visa can only be applied for once. After 5 years, a new visa type will be required to stay in Thailand.

It look like they will finally launch it. When you go to the official website for the visa (https://www.thaievisa.go.th/), you can read that :

Attention : Due to a system upgrade, Thai e-Visa service will be temporarily unavailable on the following dates and times:

1. 13 July 2024 at 14.00 - 20.00 hrs. (UTC+7)
2. 14 July 2024 at 21.00 hrs. - 15 July 2024 at 01.00 hrs. (UTC+7)

Online application is normal. Even ELITE is online, LTR online too..

Saving requirements are not high but still enough to 'put away' all broke foreigner.

Some people are surprised they will probably dont ask to put the money in TH bank account (like for retired visa) but they cannot do in another way.. as it's kind of 'tourist' visa and you cannot get a local bank account before for 99% of the applicants..

No tax free. As we talked a lot in many TH topics.. tax free is for stay maximum 179days a year in the kingdom. If more, you become a 'normal' TH tax resident and you pay tax on your remitted income.

that helps to further centralize gov power and root out extra earnings of a bunch of people who might not be happy about it.
No wonder they wanna get rid of the current pm 😉

Most people assume that the requirements for this DTV visa will be easy to qualify for. I highly doubt it.

I saw this before when they announced the LTR Visa.

Let's see...

Basically what they used to charge 500,000 for - but admittedly without any need to leave and also a buggy on arrival with a few other perks
