How much items where sold with that PayPal account? I know people that just got a letter and a small fine of a few hundred bucks for selling Björn borg boxers on online marketplaces in Western Europe. This is already a while ago and I know it's more strict now.

If it's more looks like a real business then he will get more trouble . All depends on the scale of his business. There are enough people sent to jail for being a criminal organization that imports fake goods. And after they will sent also the tax authorities .

Around 85 sales, but all the payments were made as friends and family, not through the replica website.

i think someone from LV contact my friend (replica) website email and made a purchase via that paypal, so they have a proof that he use this paypal account to accept payment even if the payments made as freinds and family.

Then don't worry too much. 85 items is nothing. Especially if it's already some time ago.

He will just get a fine maybe and they will let him maybe sign papers of REACT that you don't do it again and what will happens next time ext. This organization act on behalf of most brands. Second time this organization will bring you to civil court.

😳 Your friend better NOT travel until this matter is settled. You don't want to F*ck with the judges and magistrates of the USDC SDFL.
I can give you a list of lawyers, OCT permitting, who can help him settle this matter w/o it going forward and get a clean bill of health BEFORE he travels.

From this day: Two arrested after US storage facility emptied of $1bn in ”˜massive amounts of knock-off designer goods'
so many people have been arrested or sued (the inclusive "or").

This is every multinational's modus operandi! Anyone who has ever worked for or with their Global Security Division knows this.

You already know what to tell your friend. If OCT permits and approves, I'll give you the names of a few criminal lawyers who work every day in the Southern District of Florida. They used to be public defenders (they are private now), so they know and work with all the prosecutors, agents, magistrates, and judges. One in particular is a master at cutting deals for his defendants.

Your friend definitely needs a criminal defense attorney, or he needs to stay put and NOT travel.

I see the federal Judge is Michael Moore in this particular case: Louis Vuitton Malletier v. The Individuals, Business Entities, and Unincorporated Associations Identified on Schedule A

Do you know what the nickname of Judge Moore is next door in FDC? Judge More! He gives MORE time than anyone else. That Judge is the Devil reincarnate! cry&¤

If he want a holiday I should choose China .

But hard to say. Yes usa can get him if they want. But 80 pieces is really not much. It should surprise me if they arrest him there for selling 80 pieces of fake Louis Vuitton. I must say I know less about USA but what is 80 pieces . You can find it on every flea/street market nowadays.

What was the pricing of his items? Did he try to sell it als real items? This would be make the case different in my eyes.

For example France . You see the penalties but in practice Paris already have stores with fake clothes presenting like stores in Atanlya Turkey. They don't hide anything in some neighborhoods. Police don't do anything about it.

And this it looks like he stores this products in a warehouse as well or more looks like a shady dropshipper?

If he looks like a big fish yes he is a target. If it's just a drop shopping of 80 pieces it's different l I guess . I mean what's the profit? I few thousands bucks ?

You seem to be infatuated with your friend going on vacation. Why? 🙄

Why is the vacation THAT important? 🙄

If they put hands on him, and "Indonesia, phillipines, china" WILL turn him over to the Americans faster than you can say "Nihao", his "vacation" will be long-term. Do NOT f*ck with the US DOJ. The prosecutors and agents there collect and display "months sentenced" in their cases like cannibals used to collect skulls of their victims. cry&¤

The first thing is that "they" can easily argue that you and your friend are in a conspiracy. Your friend should get on OCT and ask his own questions without sullying anyone else, especially you...if he values your friendship.

You are treading on VERY THIN ICE:

Ok yes wrong and more money then I expected but not the end of the world . I think he won't get arrested in asia. But I know very less about USA. In my eyes this is not a crime where they arrest somebody for from a third country in the other side of the world.

Yes! Exactly! Had he started with this very important fact, I would have told him to bag it and call a criminal defense lawyer in the jurisdiction where the "lawsuit" was filed.

The sh1tstorm this person is about to undergo, I don't wish it on my worst enemy! stupi#21

China is the ONLY one who will NOT extradite their own citizens, but this does NOT extend to vacationers.

Those not familiar with how US courts work often lose sight of the misconception about small crimes vs. big crimes.

When there is a court date scheduled, and the defendant fails to appear, the presiding judge issues an arrest warrant to compel the defendant to appear. That's it. If US Marshalls are unable to locate the defendant, the defendant's info is uploaded to all the police databases, including but not limited to Interpol.

That's it. I've seen them fly thousands of "accused" from around the world for "petty crimes" only to have a hearing and sentenced the defendant to "time served." 😳
We're talking about defendants who would have gotten only probation, who languished in foreign prisons for 2 or 3 years, were extradited, and then, when they finally arrived, were sentenced to "time served." stupi#21

Source: time served

What is often overlooked is that defendants usually spend excessive and unnecessary time in custody compared to what they would have served based on their crime had they not been fugitives. The "justice" system enjoys this type of surreptitious punishment. ca#"!

The psychology is easy to understand: By the time the defendant languishes in foreign prisons being transferred back and forth, the defendant is more likely to agree to ANYTHING offered to him by the prosecution. They would have broken down any fighting spirit the defendant may have had. Hence, why in the US, they use "diesel therapy" for recalcitrant defendants willing to go to trial and embarrass the prosecution. It's torture! Pure & Simple.
