Hiring a freelancer in Romania

Hi,

I need to hire a contractor in Romania for a period of 6-12 months. His monthly pay will be in the range of 4-6k EUR.

He is struggling to get the right info about taxation and how to operate there. Should he open a micro company? Is there a better way for contactor?

Could somebody help me understand how much he'd pay taxes best/worst case?”¦. ( in general he's concerned about taxes and I'm trying to bring him onboard)

Any tips for accounting service in Romania (especially Cluj) are highly welcome.

FYI we don't have an entity in Romania, so we'll hire from a different European country (Cyprus, Bulgaria, Malta, Estonia, ”¦)

Most of the time when people do this, they just hire the other person as a contractor (consultant/service provider). Then the contractor invoices your company once a month for the agreed remuneration, which your company pays in full. The person is responsible for sorting out taxes on their end.

If your contractor in Romania doesn't know how to handle taxes, that's a problem for them. If you want to be nice to them, you can offer to compensate them for the cost of getting qualified advice from a local tax adviser in Romania.

That's probably the problem with the workforce in Romania, they don't know much about tax rules. As 'sols' suggests, contact a tax advisor in Romania to help calculate and pay the taxes for this Romanian worker. Anything else just causes unnecessary headaches.

Yeah I understand both and fully agree, but as an employer I need to bring this guy to cover some gap we need, so I just need to close the deal asap.
