Hi community,

Is this usual that advcash ask for marriage certificate for kyc? lol. or simply they just dont want to do business with me at all? It's my first application with them.

Your account is blocked as additional KYC procedures are required.

Kindly note, that to unlock your account, we need you to provide information on (1) your previous employment (Name of organizations and designations) and provide (2) the marriage certificate. It is not a standard request, but in some cases, we require additional information and documents.

Of course, we understand if you are not willing to spend your time getting these documents, but in this case, we, unfortunately, will be unable to provide you with our services.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

It's not usual. They even write so themselves.

A request like that is a list ditch effort so salvage an account (or application). They have probably found something suspicious about you but are giving you a chance to keep (or open) the account, if you can provide the requested docs.

This is the probably the answer to your question.

Maybe you have not given them an appropriate utility bill? Or a shared utility bill with your wife's name on it?

haha thanks for the advice but I'm a Chinese so we don't have this kind of wedding in English. I just laughed and ask the customer support if this is genuinely what Advcash requires, or is it being used as a way to discourage me from proceeding with the application? I suspect later after i uplload some documents and they ask , give me a certificate cerified by Apostille. lol

My experience with Advcash was bad, there are much better alternatives out there.
Being Chinese might be an issue for them (and for others) but there are solutions 😉

Would you be willing to share? I have residential locations in both Australia and China. Ideally, I'd prefer not to provide anything related to Australia (just as bad as the US), but being a Chinese passport holder, there are occasions when it becomes a bit challenging.

well, I provided all genuine documents. I didn't lie to them. no darks at all. but if they request something like marriage certificate, I would rather not to deal any business with them.

I would have told them to get lost. Whatever it is about you and maybe your answers to their questions that triggered them to ask for a marriage certificate would make me walk away. But only you know what you said that triggered them to ask for this information. i.e "the source of funds is money that is a gift from my wife"

Haha, I understand. I didn't mention my wife at all. There were KYC questions about marital status like married, divorced, or single, etc. I'm always truthful with these straightforward questions. I'm relieved I asked them to simply close my accounts, and my wife isn't comfortable sharing her marriage certificate where her privacy would be exposed in their KYC database. This matter has nothing to do with my wife.

I also asked them " in accordance with the Belize Data Protection Act, 2021, could you kindly delete all the documents I uploaded and close my accounts?"

and they replied :
"
We respect the basic privacy rights of our users and strive to align with data protection principles in our business.

Please note that Advanced Cash Limited is subject to the Belize AML Act which prescribes performing identity verifications of the customers and storing the collected information for 5 years since the business relationship is terminated. As defined by the AML Act, “customer” means a person or entity purchasing or using a service or commodity and includes an applicant for the services of a business. Therefore, Advcash is obliged to store the data of the applicants even if the business relationship has not been established.

As prescribed by GDPR, the personal data shall be collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner that is incompatible with those purposes. Article 6 of GDPR states that processing shall take place only if one of the legal basis for processing exists. The personal data stored for AML and fraud prevention purposes is processed based on Advcash's legitimate interest, and it is still necessary for the purposes it has been collected, hence provisions of article 17 of the data deletion request cannot be applied.

Please be assured that the data shall be kept in an encrypted and secure form. None of it will be used for marketing or any other purposes but defined above. Once the 5-year period expires, all the data shall be deleted automatically.

I've been wondering where I can check my private messages (PMs) on OffshoreCorptalk. I thought I had explored various versions of difefernt types of forums thoroughly. I dont see any pm at all except the membership welcome letter. strange

Btw, you can try to ask them what was that. They have humans replying messages, not "according to our Bank internal policy we can not provide any details". Well, it used to be the case at least.
