What EMI/Bank options for EU citizens that live abroad are there, if any, these days? Some people say just open a N26 account with any address in the EU if you live abroad, but I wonder if it is allowed or even legal, especially if they ask a EU tax number during registration.
I have a tax number in Portugal as non resident (spend there less than 180 days), I live outside EU/EEA, I don't have a tax number in the country of my EU citizenship (standard case for EU citizens by descent).
Is it legal in my case to open any EU EMI/digital bank account with a Portuguese address? I gather all of them state that a person must be a EU resident. Do they mean that a person must be a TAX resident in the EU?
