The cost I paid for incorporation in Malta per company was 831 EUR (including vat) excluding the share capital of 1200 EUR. In Cyprus I paid 3348 EUR (excluding vat) + 480 EUR for a nominee secretary.

Would love to know which provider you went with in Malta, all quotes I got were much higher?

Thanks for all the comments. I'm still open to any recommendations for providers - doesn't have to be the cheapest. Google is a bit of a minefield.

There is also a flat tax scheme of 15% in Malta and a minimum annual tax of 15.000 EUR with the possibility to remit 100.000 EUR. That should be enough to make your living here.

You will be happy in Malta if you are young, like party and do not have very high standards regarding the educational and lifestyle level of the expat community. Acceptable housing (with heating for the chilly wet winters) is very expensive. For me Malta is a big delusion (everybody tells me that it has changed for the worse in the past 5 years mainly) and if I should choose again I would go to Cyprus with the 60 days scheme and stay somewhere else for the rest of the year (respecting the 183 days limit). Just my 10 cents..

CAPITAL GAINS, even if remitted, are tax free. Other incomes are taxed if remitted.
