registered companies are growing in Russia yoy. This association has 182 followers in LinkedIn, my side-side-side company got more. They clearly state that the problem can be addressed with 0-tax for software companies and professionals. Don't say it is incorrect - many already flown years ago to Dubai, like ANY other freelance and IT pro from western countries with good enough income - but seems to me a tax related agenda. Btw 90% of my buds involved in crypto development freelancing already relocated to tax-friendly countries, maybe it is accelerated in Russia due to problem to receive money from abroad.

Russia waives army call-ups to halt IT brain drain

”žRussia will waive conscription for computer programmers in an effort to staunch a brain drain of as many as 170,000 IT specialists.

Between 50,000 and 70,000 technology sector workers have already left the country, according to the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC), with a further 100,000 predicted to leave next month.“

I hope the Russians do not take an example of the Berlin Wall (GDR) and North Korea and the order to shoot to prevent their own citizens from leaving the country (escape).

The Brain Drain has startet. The Russia-Ukraine conflict has pushed thousands of Russian IT professionals to relocate to Turkey, the UAE, Armenia, Georgia, and Southeast Asian and Baltic countries.

Whether it is Venezuela or Russia, the wealthy always flee a totalitarian country first. Then those perceptive souls with the brightest minds and the most in-demand skills. They see the handwriting on the wall.

Then, when the chaos begins in earnest, those with mobile income options leave. After the societal deterioration gets rather severe and they have no other choice, then it is the middle class's turn to flee. They have enough resources to escape, but not too much else. The uneducated and the poor always fare the worst. Having no other choice, they remain.

How is it a contradiction? He complains about Russia's totalitarianism and military aggression, which almost always results in paranoia, closed borders, loss of civil liberties, and currency controls.
