If the atomic bomb hits Europe?

What place on earth would you rather be to avoid being hit by rays or the bomb itself ?

It is a purely theoretical question. In the 80s it was said Australia was the safest place and no one would hit the country with an atomic bomb, is it still Australia?

Why New Zealand and not Australia ?

One reason is that New Zealand has lower taxes than Australia. For example, New Zealand lacks capital gains tax. It's not exactly zero CGT, but many/most forms of capital gains are not taxed.

I'd go for a small country, which is not a member of NATO and not affiliated with Russia.
Maybe Panama would be a good choice or a banana republic like Comoros or Madagaskar.
Panama has no military, so they cannot join a war.
I don't think banana republics like Comoros or Madagascar have any intention or benefit of getting involved in a war.
They are not really nice to live, but you will survive.

I'd stay away from countries like Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. They are too close to Russia.

Are you kidding me? Locals and neighbouring countries will quickly turn into apes with guns. They will start raiding places with no army.

Who doesnt want juicy rich villas and wealth in Panama? Rule number 1 in dark times: rich places get raided right away. Be prepared to hire a private army to protect yourself.

OP actually raises a good question. My thinking is that most will problem stay as they are waiting for their Amazon parcels and benefit checks to arrive and to watch season 58 of Big Brother while waiting for the pre-nuclear closing down sales at their local market to start. However I think those in Spain and Italy will cross over into North Africa due to proximity and existing Ferry routes into North Africa.

There are really only two types of nuclear wars.

One is where a country nukes another and maybe that country responds, but that's it. In that case, you're safe as long as you aren't in the fallout radius.

The other is a total nuclear apocalypse where the only safe place is the ISS.

Not really. Latest investigations say the nuclear winter wouldn't be so heavy as initially thought, and some scientists openly say it is a mith. It could eventually revers natural global warming for 2/3 years. I think Latin America, Africa and part of Asia should be fine.

Yup. I think I would try my luck in fertile lands of rural Africa maybe Namibia. Living on my small island where everything is imported is not where I would want to be as we would starve to death in months without imports.

Yes, it is a military target, but I think it is not a target for a nuclear bomb. And it is not the main target for a war between NATO and Russia.
If Russia will start an atomic war, they will drop the bombs to NATO members directly.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Panama, but the channel has always been a HIGHLY protected military point of interest.
Generally speaking, almost all Latin America is a safe place (not only speaking about nukes; as I always say, it's more dangerous a walk in Kensington Park than in Xochimilco).

The Chinese soft own the channel already. Panama even wanted to donate land to China to build something on the canal land, but that was met with fierce opposition by Usa. Also there are a lot of Chinese present in Panama. They are not very visible except in the casinos lol 😉
