"Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani left capital Kabul on Sunday with four cars and a helicopter full of cash, news agency Reuters reported. It quoted Russian news agency RIA to report that Ghani had to leave some money behind as it would not all "fit in".

"Four cars were full of money, they tried to stuff another part of the money into a helicopter, but not all of it fit. And some of the money was left lying on the tarmac," Nikita Ishchenko, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Kabul, was quoted as saying by RIA."

There you go; it proves the guy was a loser...despite him being an academic he didn't have the brains to smuggle out his proceeds of corruption using gold or palladium or bitcoin.

He will prefer to have cash in the helicopter rather than gold

btw all that yellow part is full of myths

Thats funny as former Gambian president did exactly the same i.e taking cash and cars...lol.

I've heard the Taliban are going to force people to wear masks, close non-essential businesses, close schools, only allow people to exercise once per day, and ban them from meeting their friends. Also, they are going to mandate vaccines.

As someone in the west, we are quite rightly shocked that they are using such draconian methods. How backwards!

How inhumane they are 😉 Also they will not provide me with my daily dose of LGBTQ+.

Off topic, but what are the chances the Taliban will offer some sort of zero-tax on everything tax residency regime that's crypo friendly, easy banking, easy to form a company, full secrecy, etc. etc....the type of place we're all desperately searching for? Fantasy land stuff I know but if it did happen they might get an "Allah Akbar" from me.

I hope they do. It would be a very interesting place to visit and build up.

Think they will soon start offering tax free remote worker visa's smi(&%.

But seriously best I can imagine is they may in future offer some special economic zone for westerners immune from Sharia Law.

I wonder under Sharia law what happens to a tenant that doesn't pay rent???

For the first time in history Afghanistan not only is important for its geographical position but also because they literally sit on the biggest gold mine for the next 50 years (lithium and rare earth minerals).
IF (big IF!) they play well their cards, chances are they could improve economy and create some sort Kazakhstan there.

Well if Lithium is the new oil and if they have mineral wealth and its managed correctly people could have a standard of living there comparable to Libya before they snuffed Qaddafi.

The west acts like democracy is the only model for a successfully country which is nonsense. China's model has worked very well making them the second biggest and soon to be first biggest economy in the world. China have pulled over 800m people out of abject poverty in 40 years.

I am no fan of the Taliban but they have had a more peaceful transition of power so far then the US has had at last election smi(&%. I wish the people of the country every success in their self determination as a sovereign nation.

Agree to that.
I travelled to China and lived there among some locals. They could enjoy a pretty free life as well and as middle class family had a car, two kids, a home and a small booth selling electronics and providing installation services. Many in the west I know cannot have this standard of living unless they had a university degree and landed top jobs (friends in Italy or Spain) and instead seek their faith in party and booze.

The key being of the article quoted: "...However, he also had a heart for his country..."

Democracy worked 70 years in the ancient Athenas and Liberal democracy just a few decades during the XX and XXI centuries; it is the most overrated political system.

It might work if only those can vote who pay more in than they get out by subsidies/grants/welfare etc, which would shrink the voter base by about 90% 😉
