Gibraltar Category 2 tax residency

Does anyone have real experience with gibraltar cat 2?
I am a citizen of a European state
I have more than £ 2m
Paying £ 22k a year is much less than what I would pay in the country where I now live.
I have no problem paying for more expensive accommodation.

My main motivation is to collect profits from crypto and stocks and continue to live in Europe.

I have already collected a lot of money from crypto in recent years and paid taxes (a lot) and there were no problems with anything.
In the past, the banks asked me to prove source of money and there was no problem with anything.
I have nothing to hide. I am a successful investor and I can easily prove how I bought cryptocurrencies at very low prices on regulated exchanges in my name.


Do you know anyone who got cat2 successfully?
If I have money, are there any disadvantages at all?
Is there a better country in Europe for me than Gibraltar?

With that kind of money I would go for Zug / Switzerland, it will make it all much easier for you.

The total setup costs would be roughly 8K CHF and that's it, problem solved.

I started the application process but abandoned it after brexit result when Gibraltar became useless to my needs. You actually need significantly more than than 2m headline figure they publish (as you know) plus a source of income i.e investment income, life insurance policy etc. Not sure how well they will take to source being crypto. Gibraltar is really a solution for Monaco rejects.

Every 3 years you need to renew permit if I remember.

Why not Cyprus\Malta? Gibraltar seems extremely boring. Both should also be cheaper than Gibraltar and more crypto friendly

Could even go with Ireland. Not the best place to live but a decent non-dom residency to have.

Lived in Gibraltar for two years, not that boring if you have a car and visit nearby cities like Marbela or Malaga.

I got the business visa, created a company and hired myself. It takes some time and paperwork.

I left when banking became a nightmare and increased taxes, but still good i think
