AAA European banks

Hello everybody

I am looking for European banks for opening a current account for my daily expenses.
I live in Italy. Which banks would you suggest?

Hi Carlo,

go with N26. Fast verification, free and works fine. For daily expenses it's totally fine.

Or go with some other digital bank: Compare digital banks in Italy: The best mobile banks for you | Finder Italy

If you don't care in general, you can even pick the bank that provides the best registration bonus. But lots of digital banks seem to support Italy as country. This shouldn't be a big problem.

If it's specifically banks you are looking into you can just arrange them by asset worth to get a good idea:

The quality of services is of course another thing entirely.

Please, forgive me! I need to point out that I need a bank which is not located in Italy.

N26 is amazing, but it has become an Italian-branched bank since March or April, 2020.

what Italien bank would you trust with your money? People are very paranoid on this forum but using an Itlaien bank is ok 😀

You're right, Italian banks are ok. Notwithstanding, I don't trust holding money in the same country where I live. I guess you've already heard about "The Flag Theory". I'm one of those following this theory. That's why I'mlooking for a 100% foreigner bank.

AAA rated Banks in Europe : Only 5 to 10 are rated AAA in Europe.
None in France, Spain, UK, Greece....

Most of them are in Germany : They are Landers or Provincial Banks. Small banks

L-Bank in Germany
Landwirtschaftiche Remtenbank in Germany
few others but I can't remember

But also AAA
Zuercher Itantonabank in Switzerland
Bank Nederlandse Geementen in Nederland
Nederlerlandse Waterschapsban in Nederland

Classification by biggest Assets is worth nothing. Unless we believe Too Big to Fall.

This list is nothing to compare with AAA or AA+ Banks.

In the Top Ten or that list : ING is around BB+ the others are far below.
