Bad times for opening a bank account here or visiting the city for doing business. But definetly a good place to be after you pass the quarantine, the bars are open and no movement restrictions inside the territory. Also low infection rate comparing to NY or Europe

I've been unable to verify it first hand, but I've been told that some banks in Singapore are allowing video conference in lieu of in-person meeting even for non-private banking customers during this crisis.

If there's any silver lining to all this, it could be increased understanding of video conferencing for account opening purposes also in Hong Kong.

They are already doing this with current customers but for new customers maybe still a requirement. I'll check next week

Yes @Sols & @GiGoGo We were talking to HSBC HK and OCBC Singapore this week about the possibility of remote account opening using video conference for the time being. They were both considering, but we have not received confirmation yet.
