I have been looking into the following SSL certificates but don't know which one is the best.

- Thawte

- GeoTrust

- RapidSSL

- Verisign

- digicert

I see many website using the thawte certificate even so goold was using Geotrust ssl certs for not long time ago...

The thawte certificate is USD 149 for 1 year while RapidSSL is only USD 79 😕

Thawte, Verisign and GeoTrust are the one who have been in business for the longest,‌ however, that does not mean the other companies are not good.

We go for Verisign also this VeriSign Trust Seal - Increase traffic, increase conversions, increase‌ website trust and confidence, from VeriSign, Inc. is good for trust to your website

We put up a Geotrust cert. works great even though we don't see an increase‌ of orders.

Yes GeoTrust is a great certificate cheaper than Verisign certs... but there are others I‌ only know of never tried them which are cheaper and good as well.

You only need a SSL certificate if you accept credit cards online directly on your‌ website or you have sensible data which requires you to encrypt them before they are‍ transfered through the net.

For PayPal and RBS Worldpay you don't need a SSL certificate!
