I am sorry but I understand it is in beta. If it has been around‌ for 4 years, sorry I missed it...

So then there must be lots of people‍ with experience of it. Can anyone comment if it works well, what their KYC is⁠ like, whether it would be a solution for people who are more interested in the⁤ remote US bank account angle and might process 1 or 2 credit card transactions, what⁣ kind of merchants they accept/do not accept etc?

We had a discussion on this board⁢ not long ago about opening US bank accounts remotely and I didn't see you bring︀ up this option...

Stripe.com/Atlas has been around for a very long time, you can even do a Google‌ search on this forum to see it was discussed already back in 2016!
