Thank God I didn't incorporate there.

My friend told me about the issue with public passport scans.

Apparently, the passports have poor-quality scans. I don't know what anyone could do with them.

It's actually pretty simple to gather KYC (Know Your Customer) data from almost anywhere in the world quickly. You pretend to be a financial service or a business selling something like company formation, throw in some ads here and there, and wait for customers to come to you. Then, you ask them to send you their passport, utility bill, or whatever else you need.

You can even get some customers to do video verification by sending them a link, and they'll do it thinking they're getting a service they'll never actually receive.

Sometimes, things can be ridiculously easy.

You can't really use these passports for anything, but's scary as hell.

what would you do with the passport scans you get from the registry? image and other marks are almost impossible to see?

Not all of them. Some are of decent enough quality that bad actors could end up using them as beneficial owners of a scam company when setting up etc 😕.

Interesting breakdown, clearly a creative use of open registries. It’s surprising how many countries still publish full ID document scans as part of their company filings.

That said, if the goal is to test document parsing tools or OCR systems (which I assume is the case for most here), there are safer and more structured ways to get sample passport scans.
Several online datasets and synthetic identity generators provide high quality examples without touching real people's data plus, you avoid any potential grey zone legal exposure.

For those working with KYC systems or AML automation, synthetic data tends to be the smarter route long term, cleaner, safer, and scalable.

Still, thanks for laying out the Georgia method in such detail.

Good to know how open their system still is.

That's really fucked up.

I hope they don't publish your passport when you buy real estate.

They don't, they also masked the passports vel, but with AI you can easily bring in front the identity of an individual on the passport 😉

Bro, it was filmed in Romania, and he pretended it to be a Kazakhstan.

But Tbilisi is such a disgusting city, only Vake is nice, the rest is just like a horror movie.
