Today I visited two banks on the island:

  1. MCB
They don't open accounts unless you‌ can maintain a 300 000 USD cash balance in your account.
If you don't have‍ 300k USD to park in cash, you need to have a residency visa or work permit.

  2. HSBC
They don't open accounts for non-resident foreigners, period. You need a work permit⁤ or residency.

I'm going to speak with more banks tomorrow. Hopefully, they won't disappoint...

Also, can anybody recommend a "Management Company" on the island that can be used as an⁣ "Introducer" to open an account with ABC Bank? What's the deal with needing to go⁢ through a third party anyway?

Do you have to pay tax on money transferred into a Mauritius account if you're‌ not living there? (non-resident?). The red block in the screenshot make it sound like you‍ have to pay tax on any funds transferred into Mauritius, even if you don't live there?

Lol, who would want to keep 300k USD‌ in Mauritius. I assume that this is just a way of them telling you to‍ f**k off.

Let's say i'm a digital nomad working there, but my income‍ came from abroad (which is a requirement to work from Mariutius), i'm free of tax?
Even after 183th day spent on island (via new Premium Visa program) ?
