Cyprus non-dom status if you lived on the island for 2 years already

Hi,

Is it possible to get nom-dom status if you lived on Cyprus for 2 years already? But was unemployed and living from savings?

Yes. You are non-domicile as long you weren't born into a Cypriot family and have‌ lived in Cyprus for less than 17 years in total.

So you still have 15‍ years left.

Oh okay. If you moved there as a⁠ foreigner and acquired a TIC, is the non dom status automatically applied to you? Or⁤ you need to prove it somehow?

It is not automatic. You have to fill in a form and take it to‌ the tax authority, which will then issue you a certificate of non-domicile exemption. But the‍ two years you already spent in Cyprus will count against the 17 total years, which⁠ is why you have 15 years left today.

It's recommended you have a lawyer or⁤ accountant help you out. Tends to make things easier and faster than if you do⁣ it yourself.
