Britain's populist Reform‌ UK party presented plans on Monday to offer wealthy, often foreign newcomers a "Britannia Card"‍ to gain exemption from tax on international wealth, income or gains for 10 years for⁠ a one-off, 250,000-pound ($336,000) payment.

So that works out at £25,000 a year to⁤ be a UK non-dom for 10 years. But that is cheaper than what long term⁣ non-doms in UK were previously paying i.e £30,000 a year ns2. I think Reform party⁢ have no idea how to do basic maths or they are leaving money on the︀ table.

It would be cheaper than Trumps golden visa I suppose and other non-dom schemes︁ such as Italy that charge 200k euro a "year" alone 🙁. £250k for 10 years︂ of no tax on offshore earnings seems like a bargin it will 100% be oversubscribed.︃

In any case I would not move to UK under such a scheme or if︄ Reform came to power. If you think Trump is bad right now let Reform Party︅ manage the UK economy and see what it will look like after 12 months.

It's at‌ least 3 years before the next election, polls mean nothing.
And discussing a half-cooked idea‍ that will have negative support amongst British public is a pointless exercise.
Non-dom was brought⁠ to spotlight because Sunak's wife used it. It was weaponised against him and scrapped by⁤ his government to save some votes, not because anyone actually believed it would bring more⁣ taxes. No-one will bring it back, it has the same political flavour as Brexit, so⁢ no takesies-backsies.

It does appear to be slightly more attractive than other schemes out there, but as‌ others have pointed out, the UK is a long way from where it needs to‍ be. Based on where things are currently it'll need an economic miracle like South Korea⁠ to even begin to turn the tide.
