Today I learned that AI can generate passports that pass most compliance tools available.

On one shoulder there is a little devil seeing all sorts of opportunities. I dont think I have to elaborate on this one.
On the other shoulder I foresee a nightmare in the making. For instance, when tools cannot be trusted it becomes human work again which will create a huge backlog / delay for anything where identification comes in place.
I expect in that sense in the coming months huge delays with incorporation of entities regardless of whether they are on or offshore and also with the opening of bankaccounts.

Specifically the bankaccounts opened by people from country A with an entity in country B and a bankaccount in country B or C will be affected by this.

Am I missing anyhting? Anyone here also able to shed a light on this AI passport development?

what I see behind this case is an enormous risk︄ any user of such a service is taking unless it's somehow miraculously self-hosted solution
using AI tools is such a friction-less experience that people easily forget that their data is︅ the price and will be used for whatever purpose and sold to anyone willing to︆ pay

Using AI generated passports is pretty extreme.
I have to admit, I don’t really believe‌ they’re of much practical use although the idea does sound kind of sci fi.

More and more banks are requiring Zoom interviews to open accounts. I think that's because‌ of AI created passports. But I also expect AI to be used for Zoom calls,‍ using real-time DeepFake technology.

It would be a lot easier if banks just stop KYCing. Are the governments really making more taxes with all these requirements? Most people dutifully obey⁤ the law, so this KYC is only targeting a small portion of people, some of⁣ whom still stay ahead of KYC anyway or in my case, don't use them at⁢ all. They can't be making that much money. All this KYC is just creating a︀ normalization of Big Brother.

This. On several‌ occasions they wanted me to video call and hold my passport next to my face.‍

The aim of kyc/aml/tf is racism.︁ To prevent whole societies access to unobstracted transaction/trade. Therefore it is going only one way:︂ more of it. Until system partitions. Let's hope it does. The victory will be glorious.︃

Paving the way for CBDCs.

You will own nothing and be happy, while eating "ze bugs"‌ in your 15 minute cities!

Onlyfakes has done a pretty good job more than a year ago.

Nowadays, I assume that everything is fake if I can't touch or lick it.⁤ rof/%

What AI tool did you use? I am thinking that︄ this should not be possible since it shouldn't fall under the TOS of most providers.︅ Did you jail break?

I didnt do it myself, I stepped into a zoom call where this was demonstrated. My jaw dropped to the floor.

thesese type of documents have been available for‍ years, there was a masterind from Russia very good in it seconeye, but he was taken by the FBI with his entire group as far as I remember.

It's very tempting, not to cheat anyone but given the number of times my personal‌ data have already been part of breaches.
GDPR is useless...

They want us to use real names everywhere. All the breaches show that compartmentalization and therefore the use of aliases is a good habit.

Didn’t think about it from your⁤ perspective but low key I kind of support and approve it.

I’ll admit it looks really professional but you can’t really use digital passports for anything‌ anymore where would you even use it

If AI is truly bypassing modern KYC systems, we are likely to see a complete‌ reset of identification procedures. And this is not just about banking, it will affect everything‍ including government registries, taxes, and immigration.

Passport-only verification is pretty much useless nowadays, as most KYC procedures now include liveness checks.‌ Even though liveness checks can be bypassed with AI, I believe we're in a transitional‍ phase where AI-driven exploits are temporary. Soon, identification as we know it will completely change - and I doubt it will revert to human-led checks. Humans make mistakes too, and⁤ they're easier to exploit than technology.

We're already seeing adaptations: some banks now require physical⁣ NFC scans of passports/IDs, others (like in Estonia and Ukraine) mandate government-issued digital IDs, and⁢ platforms like Revolut even trigger KYC rechecks for certain transactions. So yes, while AI can︀ disrupt KYC now, it's a short-term gap. Financial institutions (and not only) are already rolling︁ out countermeasures.
