ADIB is a decent bank if you really need to have an account in the UAE.
Like all banks in that country, you need to have a residence permit and go to a branch in person to open the account.
Of course don't expect anything special and be prepared for your account to be closed without any explanation, as it happened to me:
Dear Customer,
As you may be aware, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (āADIBā and or the āBankā) is under a regulatory requirement to review all accounts on a periodic basis. Based on our recent review of the account(s) and further to our previous notifications to you, we regret to inform you that your account(s) will be closed in accordance with ADIBās internal policy and regulatory reasons.
You are kindly requested to visit your branch urgently and complete the account closure formalities within 15 days of the date on this letter.
You are requested to return any unused cheques, ATM/Debit and covered cards so that we may complete the account closure process. Also please note, that any direct debit authorities will also be canceled as a part of the account closure process by ADIB. In case you have any standing order and/or open/active trade transactions, please contact your relationship manager to have them closed.
Failure to comply with the Bankās request within the stipulated period, we will proceed with account closure formalities. A payment order for any available balance in your account(s) will be issued after deducting any due charges due to the Bank. A payment order will also be issued for any foreign currency funds available in your account(s) after it is exchanged to AED at ADIB's Prevailing Exchange Rates on the account(s) closure day. You may request the payment order from your branch.
Note: Please note that this communication refers only to the Business Accounts subject to applicable bank's internal closure policy, and not necessarily will impact all of your accounts with ADIB.
